My Fave Shop launch

Am off on leave first thing tomorrow for the week which means I'll be missing the (in-theory) launch of Myfaveshop.com (I refuse to do the midword capitalisation - so very 2001). This outfit has some pretty heavy-duty names engaged. John Clare, ex supremo at DSG (Dixons Group to you and me) is Chairman, Michael de Kare-Silver (ex chief exec at AKQA and other things) is onboard as chief exec, and there are a number of other luminaries of the digital retail space in the area. Looks like a fairly hefty wage-bill upfront but who am I to wonder.

The proposition is interesting and builds on social-shopping as a mash-up of two of our favourite things - shopping and bragging. I haven't seen the screenshots yet as I missed that particular presentation so am as keen as anyone else to see the real deal - supposedly going live on Monday 30th. Should be a laid-back weekend for their systems guys then!

Social-shopping is one of those ideas that seems like it should be a good thing but I can't quite figure out how to pull it off. The incentivisation needs to be more than just bragging-rights re your reviews and ratings. Incentivisation also needs to go beyond a loyalty-points system because, well, that's been done and is being done. Loyalty points is a crowded market that you can only ever get a small twist on.

Social-shopping then can have good uses around service, experience and trend-spotting in crowds. Let's hope this is where Myfaveshop is heading and not just a shopping-mall with its own loyalty card ...

Fiddling with the widget

Wonder if I can change the colour, be nice if it was more configurable. The dancing is ... I guess charming would be a good word. Still, the bods behind it (Projector Japan) won a lovely shiny award at Cannes this year. It won in the Integrated category but not sure why seeing as it exists in a purely digital environment - is it integrated because it exists on the Uniqlo site and can also be distributed? Is it integrated because its roots are clearly above the line but it also forms a practical widget for bloggers? Answers on postcards.

When you unbundle it, it's some very nice video work and a clock. What next an embedded Pacman widget being held up as the future of Integrated work?

Uniqlock widget

Hmm so let's see what the Uniqlock widget does. Was created by/for Uniqlo for their global launch. Let's, as they say, give it a razz ...
